thoughts on blogging

I’ve never really had a blog before, so I have a couple questions…
Doesn’t it feel weird to expose your personal thoughts to the world? I mean, I find myself fighting my natural intuition to shut up each time I start writing a blog on this thing… I repeatedly hear the voice of the GodFather (oh yes, a GodFather reference) telling his son never to allow anyone to know what is going on inside his head…
Does anyone else have quams about exposing your deep personal thoughts to anyone who comes across your page? I like blogs, don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice way to get to know a different side of people, I’m just not sure that’s the way I’d like people to get to know me.
what are we supposed to blog about? Can someone teach me the ancient ways of blogging? ÂÂ
 any thoughts?
Alright, well, I’m gonna head on out as I go downtown to have lunch with my good friend, amigo, comprade, Casey F. Oh yeah, he leaves for the Phillippines on Sunday, so maybe ya’ll wanna give him a farewell ring?! he’d probably like it… I would.
 peace…

Hey there, well that’s a great start! some people just treat it as an online journal, some people are more formal with their approach. I too feel a bit confined with a single page, but the material’s there to do what you can with, and express whatever you’d like.
i think it takes a bit of getting use to. everyone struggles with being too personal, or filtering, or possible perceptions.. just be yourself. Check out other people’s blogs in voxtropolis and you can see how people uniquely express themselves.. and then join the conversation!

The nature of blogging is a filtering process I think. As Lon points out, some’s filters seem more like an open pipe, but most people share what they want their audience to hear. So who is your audience? That’s probably a question too few ask.
I write primarily so that my family, friends, community of faith, blogging neighbors and physical city neighbors will see my heart. I know I’m a quiet guy in person and writing is one of the places I really show my true self most easily. Hopefully in that mess of writing, I’ll encourage a few people, help a few others understand me more and participate in group discussions that will teach me things I need to know.
The great new is that this is your space. You can write whatever you like. If you feel good about the end product and you’re expressing honest parts of yourself, you’re probably on the right track.

This is my chance to be let in on all the juice, so please- be as personal and exposed as possible. Just kidding Luis- it’s okay to write about nothing. You don’t have to reveal anything about yourself- so go on writing about nothing and we will all enjoy it. But be careful…..there’s a little truth in every nothingness. hehe

just “go to the mattresses” with your thoughts, bro!
(I love the godfather)

I was going to say “go to the mattresses”. Only I am 19 so I now it from Tom Hanks in “You’ve got mail”. Listen Worm, sit back relax and let me tell you how to blog. I should know I did invent it. The Key to Blogging is……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..no revision. Just don’t do it. It’s only real if by the end your foot is in your mouth. I’m good at that, and thats why I am the master of the blog.

quoting a great blogger, “Can I just say something?”
Luis, even after just a week or so of blogging/voxing, i have gotten to know jonathan better than after being in college group with him for 2 years!!!
how do i feel about that? awesome.
i never knew Alyssa was SO capable of writing devotional type blogs (she rocks), Emily shared the timeline of her life, Bill identifies himself as “SF Knight” (I can’t believe no one has commented on that yet!!!). I know Devisser even better before he leaves for SD and I can keep in touch with him while he’s away much more easily…
And now, you’re “mustardseed”.
it’s all very cool; it’s voxy!
looking forward to getting to know you even better, and in person here in (insert deep movie-tone voice here): THE CITY OF VOICES.
(see, my foot’s sufficiently in my mouth, i’m a dork, but I’m gonna hit “Submit Comment” in 1.2 seconds)

I just try to imagine that only friends are reading it, thus ignoring the ‘rest of the world’ who I’m supposedly exposing my thoughts to. Plus, it’s a good exercise in writing. I have to stay in top form because I’m supposed to be a writer.
